MERCEDES-BENZ  OM615
DIESEL ENGINE SPARES

The Mercedes-Benz OM615 four cylinder diesel engine first appeared in 1968 fitted to the 200D/8 and 220D/8 Mercedes sedans and evolved from its predecessor the OM621 retaining the overhead cam design.

Other applications included the Unimog 421 as well as in forklift trucks, generators and for marine use.

Design changes to the crankshaft, pistons and the use of a slightly higher engine block, the 220D variant had a marginally better power output of 60 HP compared to the 200D which produced 55 HP at 4,350 rpm.

Eventually replaced by the OM616 in 1973, this family of Mercedes diesels gained an enviable reputation for economy and reliable reputation.
